Acts of service

Hey everyone, so today I wanted to talk about Acts of service, and how it can be difficult to find a act of service, when you have a disability.

I experienced this over the weekend, as I’m doing a 35 day challenge. Well, in order to complete the challenge, you have to do some sort of a service. This proved to be challenging because of my disability. I did a search on Bing for some acts of service, but most of the acts of service were for your girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse, or they would be something that I physically can’t do.

Here’s a couple of examples:,out%20the%20trash.%205%20Pick%20up%20their%20mail.

Here’s another one, but from what I can tell is mostly what you can do for your spouse. However if you keep scrolling there’s some acts of service for the workplace and possibly more:

For my Mom’s birthday a few years ago, I came up with some ideas for Acts of service; I apologize if some of them are repetitive. Most of the ideas that are listed, can be difficult to do if you’re at home or have a disability like me; for that reason, I have come up with a couple of ideas:

1. Write thoughtful notes around the house

2. Send a poem, positive quote, or a thoughtful letter, to a friend or family member (you can write your own, or you can download an app like me)

Here’s the list of other Acts of service:

1. Sitting with someone who’s alone at lunch
2. Holding a door open for someone
3. Pay someone lunch fees at school who can’t afford it.
4. Help someone complete their homework.
5. Bring gently used stuffed animals with math got them to the children at Children’s Hospital.
6. Share the gospel with someone who is dying.
7. Say something nice to someone you would have a response of something mean to you instead.
8. Carry something for someone if they have their hands full.
9. Bring a homemade meal to a homeless person.
10. Volunteer for a neighbor.
11. Make cookies for teachers and friends
12. Not say anything negative for a whole day.
13. Hide money on can of baby formula to pay for it with a encouraging note.
14. Go to a nursing home and play music and sing for them.
15. Bring lunch and sides for people staying at the hospital long term.
16. Bring socks to the homeless.
17. Write cards to neighbors with three things you appreciate about them.
18. Call kids as Santa to single parents kids
19. Buy 30 different variety of cans of fruit for the food bank and give it to them.
20. Visit the loneliest. Person in the nursing home.
21,. Leave money for groceries taped on a box of cereal.

I hope that this helps you get some ideas, because we all need some sort of kindness in our lives, and this is a great way to do that!

Stay safe and spread the gospel.

The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him—  my father’s God, and I will exalt him! – Exodus 15:2
