Hey everyone, I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend!
So today, I wanted to talk about lies and scams
My Grandma sent me a great quote, and I think it fits well with tonight’s topic.
“The whole world has learned to deride truth or ignore it. Half the civilized world makes its living by telling lies. Advertising, propaganda, and all other forms of publicity that have taken the place of truth have taught men to believe that they can tell others whatever they like, provided that it sounds plausible and evokes some kind of shallow emotional response.”Thomas Merton
Is this not true? I mean, almost all the big companies use some sort of lie, to get you roped in. Then, there are the scammers, who out right lie to you.
Where has the world gone, where people find that it’s better to lie than tell the truth?
Everywhere I seem to look: there’s lies or some sort of deceit.
If you’re a believer in Christ, then you should know The Ten Commandments.
Although, it doesn’t directly say that you shouldn’t lie or deceive people; the closest the Ten Commandments gets is Commandment 9: “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. Exodus 20:16
Our world literally counts on deceit and lying. Truthfully I know why deceit is everywhere I look: it’s because of the devil, and his schemes.
Thankfully, I’m glad I know what to look out for, because of Christ.
Stay positive and spread the gospel.
The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him— my father’s God, and I will exalt him! – Exodus 15:2
